Description

A renowned winery is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Agronomist (full-time permanent position) to oversee all aspects of grape cultivation and ensure the highest quality grape production for wine.

The Role

The suitable candidate will be responsible for:
Leading the comprehensive management of vineyard operations to ensure optimal vine performance and premium grape quality
Managing the procurement process for all necessary goods and services
Analyzing and interpreting soil conditions, climate data, and other environmental factors to maximize grape yield and maintain high standards of quality
Leading and developing the vineyard team, offering mentorship to ensure adherence to best practices and operational excellence
Collaborating with external experts to stay updated on the latest viticulture and agronomy advancements
Ensuring adherence to regulations and standards, while maintaining detailed records of pesticide use, water management, and crop yields
Preparing and presenting detailed vineyard performance reports, including forecasts and productivity metrics

Requirements

Degree in Agronomy, Viticulture, or a related field
Minimum 5 – 6 years of experience in vineyard management or a similar role, with a strong background in grape cultivation and viticulture
Exceptional command of English, demonstrated in both oral and written communication
Proficiency in using agricultural software and data management tools to analyze and interpret viticultural data
Excellent leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing and mentoring teams
Expertise in risk assessment, financial principles and mitigation related to procurement
Reference letters from previous employers are required
